Description

Amalgamated Sugar Company is seeking experienced Welders, Pipefitters, and Combination Welder/Pipefitters to join our maintenance team in Nampa, Idaho. This position supports the installation, fabrication, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment, facilities and piping systems throughout a continuous-process manufacturing facility.

This role is designed to attract candidates with expertise in welding, pipefitting, fabrication, industrial maintenance, or a combination of these skills. Candidates do not need to possess both trades to be considered. Individuals with strong welding backgrounds, experienced pipefitters, and multi-craft industrial maintenance professionals are encouraged to apply.

Pay

$39.28 - $41.10 per hour DOE

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Welding

  • Perform MIG, TIG, FCAW, and Stick (SMAW) welding.
  • Must pass a 6G welding test to be employed.
  • Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and structural steel components.
  • Fabricate equipment, brackets, supports, guards, and maintenance components.
  • Complete repair welding on process equipment and facility infrastructure.
  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications.

Pipefitting

  • Install, fabricate, modify, and repair industrial piping systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and piping drawings.
  • Lay out, cut, bend, thread, groove, and assemble piping systems.
  • Install and maintain process, steam, water, air, and utility piping.
  • Troubleshoot piping and fluid handling systems.

Industrial Maintenance

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Support planned maintenance outages and emergency repairs.
  • Work with mechanics, electricians, engineers, and operations personnel.
  • Maintain accurate work records and complete work orders.
  • Assist with equipment installation and facility improvement projects.

Safety

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with Lockout/Tagout, confined space, hot work, and fall protection requirements.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the facility.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One of the following:
    • Welding certification; OR
    • Pipefitter apprenticeship; OR
    • Equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
  • Three years of experience in welding, pipefitting, fabrication, maintenance, construction, manufacturing, or a related skilled trade.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and plant shutdowns as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in food processing, agricultural processing, mining, energy, refinery, or chemical plant environments.
  • TIG, MIG, FCAW, and Stick welding experience.
  • Stainless steel welding experience.
  • Pipe welding experience.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Rigging and crane operation experience.
  • OSHA safety training or relevant certifications.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 55 pounds.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Climb ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures.
  • Bend, kneel, squat, reach, and perform physically demanding work.
  • Work safely around moving machinery and industrial equipment.
