  • The IT Director is a strategic leadership role responsible for defining and executing the technology roadmap, enabling AI transformation, and transforming the engineering organization into an AI-first capability engine. The role partners closely with the COO, who leads AI transformation, to translate business priorities into scalable technology solutions.

You will lead the local IT organization and act as the primary bridge between Taiwan business leadership and Global Technology, ensuring that technology decisions directly enable business growth. The IT Director will oversee a multi-squad engineering organization, currently composed of 4 squads (~35 engineers) distributed across Taiwan and APAC. This structure requires strong capabilities in:

  • Leading distributed and cross-cultural teams
  • Driving alignment across Group resources and priorities
  • Ensuring consistent delivery standards and engineering practices across locations

You will be responsible for orchestrating this multi-squad setup into a cohesive, high-performing organization, balancing local business needs with Group tech frameworks.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

Technology Strategy & Delivery

  • Define and execute IT strategy aligned with business and Group priorities.
  • Ensure delivery quality, scalability, and operational excellence.

AI Enablement

  • Translate AI use cases into scalable solutions.
  • Industrialize AI from pilot to production.
  • Build AI architecture and platforms.

AI-First Engineering Transformation

  • Transform development lifecycle to AI-First
  • Deploy AI tools to improve productivity and quality.
  • Build capabilities in AI-assisted development.

Leadership

  • Lead distributed engineering teams (~35 engineers)
  • Drive talent development and high-performance culture.

Other responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Monitor and supervise all IT activities and projects (development, implementation, maintenance) to ensure smooth delivery and operations. Lead the efforts to improve IT processes. Ensure rigorous adherence to code quality, comprehensive testing, and system reliability across all deliverables.
  • Develop the 3-year strategic IT plan for Edenred and deconstruct that into the annual budget including cost and project elements to meet Global requirements as well as delivering Taiwan’s business plan. Control the IT expenditures and capacity planning aligned with business growth objectives.
  • Maintain a continuous communication and alignment with executive leadership, local organization and global tech stakeholders. Translate technical complexity into business language. Mange expectations on timelines, risks and tradeoffs. Validate technical choices to be used for new business solutions/proposals.Participate and is the decision maker on human resources related topics for local IT team members such as recruitment, performance appraisal, objective settings.
  • Manage compliance with third-party providers (licensing, support, obsolescence)
  • Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to a cross-functional engineering team, with a focus on backend development. Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement to maintain high standards of performance and delivery.
  • Serve as the principal engineering representative in partnership with Product Managers, Designers, and key stakeholders. Contribute to product roadmap formulation, evaluate technical trade-offs, and ensure alignment of priorities and delivery timelines.
  • Direct architectural decision-making to develop scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that support a global retail platform. Identify and address technical, procedural, or resourcing gaps to ensure timely delivery.
  • Oversee the cybersecurity posture by integrating regulatory controls and processes to effectively manage risk and ensure compliance with industry standards.
    Champion a culture of innovation by encouraging new ideas, challenging assumptions, and promoting experimentation. Exemplify ownership, diligence, integrity, and respect in leadership practices.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
  • 15+ years of relevant work experience in international organization interfacing with executives and leading IT teams
  • Strong technology background with the ability to learn quickly and go deep into our product solutions
  • Strong AI user and advocate in the field of helping software development, product definition, architecture review and definition, code refactoring, etc.
  • Proven ability to leverage AI to improve engineering productivity and product innovation
  • Hands-on experience with “vibe coding” is mandatory
  • Excellent communication with senior leaders, peers and staff in multicultural environment
  • Excellent financial management understanding and capability of managing the IT budget
  • Business understanding and ability to communicate the IT agenda in business terms
  • Strong knowledge of project management with the experience of bringing projects in on time, within budget and to the stakeholder’s satisfaction
  • Strong business and technology alignment skills
  • Ability to develop & improve a large IT organization including implementation of a new IT strategy (in-house development vs outsourced development)
  • Exposure to Agile Methodologies

Should have:

  • Experience with SaaS/platforms
  • Experience in enabling AI at scale
  • The ability to lead knowledge workers, to focus the team on the outcome wanted and to energise the team to achieve more than they thought they could
