A Brief Summary of This Position:
This individual contributor position is responsible for supporting Valmont’s data governance and analytics initiatives. The IT Data Analyst will work closely with stakeholders across departments to classify, secure, and report on organizational data. This role requires proficiency in data classification tools, especially Varonis, and a strong understanding of data policy best practices. The analyst will help ensure data integrity, compliance, and accessibility while enabling data-driven decision-making across the enterprise.

Essential Functions:
- This position reports to the Manager – IT (Infrastructure) and has no direct or indirect reports.
- Flexible schedule, however, must be able to work in the office 5 days per week.
- Collaborate with business units to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
- Classify and secure sensitive data using tools such as Varonis and other data governance platforms.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support business objectives.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of data policies and procedures.
- Monitor data access and usage to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Provide feedback and context to IT, Security, and Compliance teams regarding data-related issues.
- Participate in data audits and support remediation efforts.
- Create and maintain documentation for data classification standards, reporting procedures, and analytics workflows.
- Support data quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain rapport and teamwork with all members of Valmont’s IT and business staff.
- Maintains a degree of self-directed activity.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
- Preferred Bachelor’s in a related field with 3+ years or Associate’s Degree with 5+ years relevant experience or 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with data classification and governance tools, especially Varonis.
- Strong understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
