Job Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Information Security Assurance Intern will support the Information Security Assurance team in assessing, monitoring, and improving the organization’s security and compliance posture. This internship provides hands-on exposure to cybersecurity governance, risk management, compliance activities, security assessments, and audit support. The intern will work closely with security professionals to help ensure adherence to internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

·       Assist in conducting information security risk assessments and control reviews.

·       Support the collection, analysis, and maintenance of security and compliance documentation.

·       Participate in internal and external audit preparation activities.

·       Assist with monitoring compliance against security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, and other applicable regulations.

·       Help track remediation activities for identified security risks, audit findings, and compliance gaps.

·       Review security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure accuracy and alignment with organizational requirements.

·       Support third-party/vendor security assessments and due diligence reviews.

·       Assist in preparing reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and stakeholders.

·       Participate in security awareness and training initiatives.

·       Conduct research on emerging cybersecurity risks, threats, and industry best practices.

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, Legal, Privacy, Risk Management, and Compliance.

QualificationsRequired

·       Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, Risk Management, or a related field.

·       Basic understanding of information security principles, risk management, and compliance concepts.

·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

·       Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred

·       Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2, CIS Controls, HIPAA, or GDPR.

·       Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts including vulnerability management, access control, data protection, and incident response.

·       Experience with data analysis, reporting, or governance tools.

·       Relevant coursework, projects, or cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Security+, ISC2 CC) are a plus.
