The Opportunity
Interim Project Manager - Nuclear Records Management (Security Clearance Required)
Location: Hensingham Business Park (Cumbria) with occasional to travel to Wick & Hinton House (Travel Expenses Covered)
Job Type: 18 Month Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover - October 2026 - March 2028)
We are offering an exciting interim opportunity to join an established Project Management Office (PMO) supporting Iron Mountain’s contract with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority Archives Limited (NDAAL).
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to lead a dedicated end-user programme supporting our contract with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority Archives Limited (NDAAL), ensuring high-integrity governance across key sites. Working closely with operational leaders, client stakeholders, and a team of direct reports, your expertise will help maintain strict regulatory compliance while delivering complex projects on schedule and within budget. You will play a pivotal part in protecting vital assets and driving continuous improvement across a highly regulated environment.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
Deliver Projects & Governance: Manage end-to-end project portfolio lifecycles across multiple sites in alignment with PRINCE2 principles and PMO standards.
Lead & Coach a Team: Provide direct line management and daily coaching for direct reports while forecasting resource needs across locations.
Oversee Financials & Risk Controls: Monitor daily budgets, conduct monthly forecasting, apply contract Risk & Assurance Frameworks to mitigate project risks and work closely with the commercial lead on the programme budget
Drive Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with operational managers and Business Analysts to implement process improvements aligned with contract KPIs.
Engage Stakeholders: Serve as the primary PMO contact for client stakeholders and end users to gather requirements, manage scope, and maintain transparent reporting.
What You’ll Bring
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven project management experience, preferably within nuclear or other highly regulated environments.
Strong knowledge of PRINCE2 methodologies, structured risk management, change control, and financial governance.
Proven experience in line management and coaching project support staff.
PRINCE2 Practitioner certification (or equivalent PM qualification).
