As an Insurance & Claims Intern at BSM, you will be responsible for supporting the effective management of marine and non-marine insurance activities, ensuring timely claims handling, cost recovery, loss prevention, and premium administration. The role plays an important part in safeguarding the company’s interests through efficient insurance processes, analysis of claims trends, and coordination with insurers, brokers, and other stakeholders to minimize losses and support operational continuity.
Key ResponsibilitiesLiaise with P&I Clubs, brokers, insurers, and other relevant parties on insurance matters and claims.
Prepare and submit Hull & Machinery (H&M) claims and follow up on reimbursements to ensure timely recovery of costs.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date claims records, ensuring all claims are supported by appropriate documentation, estimates, and reserves.
Monitor claim estimates and reserves, review claim status regularly, and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
Coordinate with finance teams to ensure claim-related expenses are correctly allocated and recorded.
Administer non-marine insurance coverages, including employee medical, life, group accident, travel, building, vehicle, employer’s liability, and public liability insurance.
Analyze H&M claims data to identify trends, risk clusters, and areas for improvement.
Recommend loss prevention measures to reduce claims frequency and financial losses.
Allocate and process insurance premium invoices related to P&I, FD&D, and H&M insurance.
Prepare insurance recharge invoices, including applicable commissions, for clients.
Degree in a marine-related field.
Good understanding of the marine insurance industry and P&I/H&M rules.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
