The Role

About this role

YOUR TEAM

The Investment Accounting Group provides accounting and regulatory data services to financial institutions. The team delivers asset accounting and reconciliation services, monthly accounting packages, regulatory schedules, and related reporting. Working across investment products and accounting frameworks, the team helps clients address evolving financial reporting and regulatory requirements while maintaining effective processes and controls.

YOUR ROLE AND IMPACT

As a Vice President in the Investment Accounting Group, you will support the delivery of accounting and reporting services while responding to the evolving needs and priorities of our clients. You will help oversee the monthly accounting close, lead client and departmental initiatives, strengthen processes and controls, and coordinate capabilities from across BlackRock to deliver business and client objectives. The breadth of the team’s services provides opportunities to expand your knowledge across investment products, accounting complexities, regulatory requirements, technical capabilities, and client-facing business areas.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed knowledge of BlackRock’s capabilities, products, and services for financial institutions. Stay current on the evolving regulatory landscape and new accounting pronouncements, and clearly communicate their implications to support client compliance across multiple bases of accounting, including United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and United States statutory accounting.

  • Apply knowledge of derivative concepts and derivative accounting to support investment accounting processes, analysis, reconciliations, reporting, and client deliverables.

  • Support business growth, new-client implementations, and client retention within the insurance sector by partnering with teams across BlackRock and representing accounting on cross-functional projects and working groups.

  • Lead the continued development of investment reporting production and control processes to improve efficiency, mitigate operational risk, incorporate business and product changes, and maintain procedures that reflect current practices.

  • Partner with vendors to communicate development priorities, support delivery, and help ensure that accounting and reporting solutions meet business and client requirements.

  • Serve as a senior point of contact for clients on accounting-related matters, conduct training for the Investment Accounting team, review quarterly National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and other regulatory reconciliations, support audits, and recommend control enhancements based on review findings.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated investment accounting experience within investments or financial markets, typically gained through at least six years of relevant professional experience.

  • Knowledge of insurance companies or statutory accounting, including the regulatory and accounting requirements under which insurance organizations operate.

  • Familiarity with product-specific financial reporting requirements and disclosures, including the application of accounting guidance to investment products.

  • Demonstrated focus on operational improvement, accounting controls, risk mitigation, and the continued enhancement of reporting processes.

  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, auditors, regulators, vendor partners, and internal stakeholders across global teams.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Microsoft Excel skills.

What We Do

As the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock partners with investors around the globe to help them (and those on whose behalf they invest) plan for life’s most important goals – like retirement, home ownership and their children’s education. Our clients range from governments, foundations and other large institutions to those investing on behalf of individuals, including firefighters, nurses, teachers and factory workers. BlackRock was founded with the idea of creating a better asset management firm — one that was purpose-driven, focused on clients and risk management, and propelled by data and technology. Our breakthrough Aladdin® platform is BlackRock’s technological backbone, helping investors see and manage their whole portfolios in one place – from constructing investments to monitoring risk and executing trades. Used by hundreds of external institutions around the world, Aladdin combines powerful analytics and a common language to help investment teams make faster, more informed decisions across public and private markets. It’s a key part of our business and one of the reasons we’re trusted to manage more assets than any other investment manager today. At BlackRock, we challenge conventions and raise the bar for what’s possible. We harness technology to unlock new solutions, simplify complexity, and deliver investment strategies that meet people where they are. Whether it’s retirement planning, wealth building or navigating market shifts, we’re here to help clients invest more easily, more affordably and with more choice as we chart a path toward financial well-being together.
