As a Credit Risk Associate in the Infrastructure & Green Economy Credit Risk team, you will support the structuring of new transactions and management of a portfolio of existing loans and related credit exposures to greenfield and brownfield projects across multiple sectors, including energy, power, renewables, energy transition, infrastructure, and transportation assets. You will work closely with senior team members and engage with Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Infrastructure Financing & Advisory, Markets, and other partners across the firm.
Job Responsibilities
- Interface closely with business teams to develop due diligence questions by reviewing contracts, forecasts, budgets, financial statements, construction reports, and operating reports.
- Use strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand and identify risks and recommend loan and derivative structures that sufficiently protect the firm's interests in structured transactions.
- Build and maintain financial models to incorporate the impact of forward-looking risk assessments on key drivers.
- Support the execution of transactions by reviewing and structuring finance and commercial contracts and making recommendations regarding appropriate capital structures, exposure levels, and risk ratings.
- Apply corporate finance and accounting expertise to prepare credit memorandums and support credit approval and booking processes.
- Perform portfolio management activities, including analyzing amendment and waiver requests, conducting periodic credit reviews, performing ongoing counterparty and industry credit analysis, monitoring trading limits and credit ratings, and negotiating documentation revisions.
Stay current on all aspects of assigned clients, including industry trends, portfolio performance, compliance with covenants, current events, potential risks, and opportunities.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in financial services or consulting.
- Strong financial modeling skills and familiarity with financial statements, including the ability to analyze capital structure, profitability, project build costs, and cash flow.
- Understanding of credit risk management, commercial requirements, and front-office processes.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills.
- Commercial acumen with the ability to balance risks and opportunities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and organized manner.
