Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineer (On-Prem) to join our team in Chennai, India. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our on-premises infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security of our IT systems.
- Design and implement on-premises infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements
- Manage and maintain server hardware, networking equipment, and storage systems
- Implement and support virtualisation technologies to optimise resource utilisation
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies
- Automate routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce human error
- Monitor system performance and conduct regular health checks
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and implement appropriate solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure components
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5-7 years of experience in managing on-premises infrastructure
- Proven expertise in server hardware, networking equipment, and storage systems
- Strong knowledge of virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware)
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python)
- Solid understanding of network protocols and security principles
- Experience with monitoring and performance tuning tools
- Familiarity with IT service management practices and frameworks
- Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity planning
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, CCNA, VMware VCP) are desirable
- Experience in data centre operations is a plus
