A Maintenance Automation Specialist troubleshoots, services, and repairs computerized systems and robotic equipment designed to reduce human interaction while supporting safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations.
What You'll Do
- Follow all plant and department safety rules, procedures, and PPE requirements
- Escalate and address safety concerns
- Connect to and troubleshoot PLC and drive platforms
- Perform advanced troubleshooting using root cause and rapid problem-solving techniques
- Train and mentor maintenance technicians and trainees
- Identify production losses related to automation systems and communicate corrective actions
- Calibrate process controls including E/P devices, load cells, and sensors
- Configure and adjust PID temperature control systems
- Work with OEMs to support equipment functionality, setup, and optimization
- Design and implement automation and electronics improvement projects
- Update electrical prints and redlines using AutoCAD 2D
- Develop electrical procedures and technical documentation
- Support after-hours maintenance needs, including nights and weekends when required
- Partner with Corporate and Plant Engineering on capital projects
- Troubleshoot and repair both electrical and mechanical systems
- Associate's degree in Electro-Mechanical, Industrial Automation, or Journeyman with E&I
- Working knowledge of plant equipment and preventive maintenance techniques
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Ability to use hand tools, multi-meters, computers, and oscilloscopes
- PLC programming experience using Allen Bradley and Siemens platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment
- Formal training and/or education in electrical systems, including PLCs
- 2-5 years of experience maintaining production machinery and plant support systems
- Working knowledge of Wonderware
- Experience managing plant utilities software through i-Vu
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to work under deadlines
