Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job:The Import & Export Logistics Assistant Manager is involved in the development, daily execution, and operation of import and export logistics in Thailand. Responsibilities include implementing cost savings initiatives, developing analytics and benchmarking projects, conducting logistics network studies, and deploying digital capabilities to support Unilever’s transformation agenda.
On a day-to-day basis, the Assistant Manager oversees shipment scheduling, tracks cargo movement, coordinates with customs brokers and freight forwarders, and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements. The role also involves liaising with internal teams, vendors, and carriers to resolve issues that arise, monitoring key performance indicators, and proactively addressing bottlenecks to maintain seamless supply chain flow.
Main Accountabilities
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of import and export logistics within Thailand, ensuring efficient and timely movement of goods.
- Collaborate intensively with internal teams such as logistics operations, planning, procurement, finance, and IT, as well as external partners including third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
- Identify, monitor, and deliver savings opportunities in both import and export logistics areas.
- Drive the on-time deployment of digital capabilities and tools across markets to enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead logistics network projects by conceptualizing scenarios, performing network optimization analyses, and designing execution frameworks.
- Develop and implement analytics and benchmarking projects to identify cost and performance improvements.
- Enhance performance visibility by implementing systems and tools, and provide analytical frameworks for data mining and analysis.
- Track logistics spend against budget, identifying gaps and opportunities for cost avoidance.
- Support the sustainability agenda by driving initiatives to deliver CO2 reduction commitments.
- Manage import tax documentation and compliance, ensuring adherence to local regulations and timely submission to relevant authorities.
- Oversee customs clearance operations, coordinating with customs brokers to expedite the release of imported goods.
- Engage proactively with customs officials and internal stakeholders to resolve disputes related to import taxes and operational issues.
- Facilitate the settlement of any import tax discrepancies, working collaboratively to address and resolve challenges swiftly.
- Support development and daily execution of import/export logistics operations in Thailand.
- Lead cost savings programs, analytics, benchmarking projects, and network studies.
- Facilitate the deployment of digital capabilities to advance logistics transformation.

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Proven experience in logistics operations, preferably in import/export management
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis, benchmarking, and project management
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams in the successful implementation of supply chain improvement projects within logistics
