Cox Enterprises is currently looking for a Human Resources Business Partner Manager, Atlanta Journal-Constitution to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia .

We are seeking an HR Business Partner Manager that will enable multiple facets of the AJC's talent strategy and directly support the AJC Newsroom to help drive us to realize our full potential and pursue ambitious business goals as one team. This role reports to the Director of People Strategy & Operations and will work in support of the growing and evolving needs of the business along with the current HR Business Partner and Employee Engagement Manager. This role will help execute people and talent strategic priorities, bringing trusted consultation and partnership to our leaders and employees, with a constant eye on organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency.
This role is located at 1200 Peachtree Street, NW in Atlanta.
Responsibilities:
- Business and Culture Led : This role will deliver business-focused HR solutions, aligning short- and long-term people goals with the business strategy while addressing daily challenges faced by leaders and employees. They will champion change, streamline operations through policy and process improvements, and leverage technology to enhance efficiency. By fostering cultural change, promoting new ways of working, and encouraging continuous improvement, this person will deliver consistent, high-quality HR services. They will collaborate proactively, solicit feedback to enhance HR delivery, and constructively challenge decisions to ensure a positive employee experience.
- People and Talent First : This person will work in partnership with leaders to identify the people implications of strategic and business plans and other developments. They will promote new ways of working to support change and manage risk. They will facilitate effective workforce planning to identify the capacity and capability of the organization to deliver its objectives. They will support and facilitate effective recruitment/retention strategies, focusing on diversity in collaboration with hiring managers and the talent acquisition team.
- Leadership Capability : This person will provide thought partnership and will equip managers with relevant information to facilitate effective, consistent, and empowering leadership. Expecting and enabling leaders to assume increasing responsibility for all aspects of people management, this person will facilitate leadership and team development, coaching and counseling leaders on communication planning and processes, performance management, and organizational effectiveness activities.
- Sound HR Support & Consultation : This person will provide professional, senior-level, strategic and operational HR advice on the interpretation of HR policies and practices, employment legislation, recruitment strategies, and change management; providing risk analyses to support all solutions. This is someone who will roll up their sleeves to perform core HR functional support and resolve requests/needs/inquiries in areas such as employment practices, federal and state employment law, performance, discipline, recruiting, and hiring. This individual will analyze and diagnose employee relations issues, investigate varying degrees of employee complaints, and consult with the subject matter and legal experts as appropriate, making sound, objective, and timely recommendations for management action, ensuring follow-through and case-closure.
- Data Driven : This person will analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and best practices to help drive business objectives, promote talent development, and drive culture and engagement.
Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field and 6 years' of progressive HR experience. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 10 years' experience in a related field.
- Proven ability to align people strategies with organizational goals and navigate complex workforce challenges.
- Strong analytical and project management skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on empathy and relationship-building.
- Experience fostering a culture of feedback, shared ownership, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree.
- Deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in newsroom environments, including the importance of collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation.
- Experience supporting media organizations.
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP).
- Previous experience working with Centers of Excellence (COEs) or within a matrix organization.
- Familiarity with diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies, particularly as they apply to newsroom environments.
- Knowledge of digital transformation in media or experience with digital subscription models
USD 99,000.00 - 165,000.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $99,000.00 - $165,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
