Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance in your assigned area of responsibility to cultivate a high-performance culture with a strong focus on HSE. Each day, you will support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge and offering solutions and advice. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring effective risk management through HSE excellence along the ABB value chain.

This role is contributing to the Electrification HSE team in Apodaca.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Conduct thorough reviews of applicable federal, state, and local HSE regulations (e.g., SEMARNAT, STPS, PROFEPA in Mexico). Ensure site operations are compliant through gap analyses, legal registers, and periodic audits.
Perform detailed risk assessments using methodologies. Develop and implement targeted action plans to eliminate or mitigate identified risks, ensuring alignment with operational priorities and safety culture goals.
Lead and support Management of Change (MoC) processes. Ensure that changes in equipment, processes, materials, or personnel are evaluated for HSE impacts. Facilitate risk assessments, documentation updates, and training to maintain compliance and prevent unintended consequences.
Coordinate and conduct investigations of incidents, near misses, and unsafe behaviors. Use structured methodologies to identify contributing factors and root causes. Document findings clearly and develop corrective actions that address systemic issues.
Qualifications for the role:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
2+ years of experience in Health, Safety and Environment, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge and practical experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 management systems, including experience as a lead or internal auditor for ISO 45001.
Knowledge of Mexican federal, state, and local HSE regulations, including applicable STPS requirements, and preferably knowledge of the PASST program.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, risk assessment, and change-management skills, with the ability to translate findings into practical corrective and preventive actions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Power BI.
