Role Description:

The Sr Associate, Public Relations will report to the Vice President of Public Relations and help support all elements of the organization’s PR agenda, including scaling local PR to keep pace with Oak Street Health’s growing national footprint and increasing national brand awareness.

Core Responsibilities:

• Leading the facilitation of a robust, proactive approach to Oak Street’s local PR efforts across existing and new markets

• Owning new market expansion and new center opening PR process (in coordination with PR agency), including but not limited to: maintaining press release calendar, drafting releases, facilitating review cycles, working with local leaders and spokespeople to coordinate media opportunities

• Researching, coordinating and evaluating paid media strategies and programs across local markets

• Building relationships with local leaders across key markets to identify newsworthy story ideas 

• Handling inbound media opportunities, including vetting requests and developing briefing documents and talking points for spokespeople

• Partnering with PR agency to oversee company speaking and award opportunities (national and regional), including calendar maintenance, coordinating logistics, and drafting submissions as necessary

• Working with VP of PR to media train spokespeople, as necessary

• Working with web lead to keep press releases and media coverage updated on website 

• Coordinating with Social Media Manager to promote positive news coverage across Oak Street’s social channels

• Other duties, as assigned

What are we looking for?

• 3+ years of public relations and communications experience. Agency experience is a plus

• Excellent communications, writing and interpersonal skills

• Proven track record of strategic media relations and campaign planning 

• Experience in working with key stakeholders to identify and build support for unique story angles and ideas 

• Ability to multitask, balance many high priorities and projects and quickly maneuver in fast-paced environment

• Critical thinker, problem-solver and someone who is always thinking one step ahead

• A measurement-driven individual who has experience tying work and results to objectives and strategy 

• Relationship-building ability with company leaders and providers, inspires confidence and demonstrates reliability 

• Someone with an incredibly positive attitude, who demonstrates good judgment in all activities and is eager to make a difference 

• A team player who is willing to take on the work needed to meet objectives
