Job Summary
Assist HR department in administering various human resource programs, including, but not limited to employee relations, compensation, benefits, EAP, safety, recruitment, employee engagement, policies, procedures, leaves of absence, communications, AAP, company events, and community involvement, while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state labor laws.
Essential Functions
- Track hourly employee personnel changes (new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, etc. to ensure accurate reporting and appropriate manning levels).
- Update HRIS database records and process paperwork for new hires, terminations, and other status changes.
- Conduct new hire orientations.
- Maintain personnel, medical, and confidential files.
- Process weekly payroll.
- Provide counsel to local leadership regarding application of the policies/procedures including hiring, promotion, employee disciplinary actions and terminations. Ensure consistent, equal, and fair treatment of employees.
- Responsible for hourly staffing (maintain current job descriptions, recruit, interview, and schedule post-offer physicals/drug screens). Maintain contact with local agencies (employment bureau, colleges, technical schools, temporary agencies, etc.) to identify and recruit qualified candidates.
- Conduct new hire orientations, reviewing company policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Coordinate the administration of various employee-health, welfare, EAP, and retirement plans plant wide. Strive to ensure employees understanding of benefit programs by regularly generating communication and counseling employees/dependents.
- Responsible for monitoring and communicating employee status changes related to Family and Medical, Short-Term, and Long-Term Disability leaves of absences.
- Responsible for employee relations activities (i.e. employee events, holiday activities, employee contests and recognition, retirement celebrations, etc.).
- Maintain open communication with all employees.
- Respond to employee questions and foster positive employee relations.
- Participate in company-wide Human Resource projects or other roles as assigned or required.
