The Opportunity

The HR Generalist will plan an integral part of the HR and People Team. As Flock continues to grow, the requests coming into the People team also grow. Our goal is to provide timely resolutions not only for our internal stakeholders but externally as well. The HR Generalist will support the HR team by helping manage the People Inbox and providing timely responses and guidance to internal stakeholders and external requests. The HR Generalist will partner with the Director of People Operations and the HRBPs in various aspects of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding, benefits administration, HR Compliance, and ongoing needs as an employee becomes more tenured at Flock.

The Skillset

  • 2+ years of experience in HR/People Operations environment in a fast-paced, start-up environment 
  • Effective communication skills that will enable others to understand your thinking while going above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of employment law and compliance 
  • Familiarity with HR processes, systems, and tools
  • High attention to detail, ensuring critical employee data is always correct 
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines while managing multiple projects and maintaining a high level of productivity and quality 
  • Ability to proactively problem solve, identify challenges, and partner with stakeholders to implement solutions

90 Days at Flock

We are a results-oriented culture and believe job descriptions are a thing of the past. We prescribe to 90 day plans and believe that good days, lead to good weeks, which lead to good months. This serves as a preview of the 90 day plan you will receive if you were to be hired as a HR Generalist Flock Safety. 

The First 30 Days

  • Establish relationships with the New Hire Onboarding Stakeholders 
  • Effectively communicate and manage the pre-employment screening steps (MVR/Background Check/Drug Tes)t process from start to finish for one set of new hire classes
  • Fully maintain the New Hire Checklist used company-wide and become the expert as it relates to all the steps with internal and external business partners for a successful new hire class 
  • Begin to manage portions of the People Inbox and provide responses within 24 hours 
  • Organize and create canned responses for repetitive questions while leveraging our current self-service resources and the creation of new resources where needed
  • Own the collection and submission for one Friday of recurring People Data requests (headcount trackers, eligibility files for benefits, new hire checklist data, etc)

The First 60 Days 

  • Be the primary contact for all HR administrative requests and paperwork
  • Partner with the Director of People Ops to own FMLA and Short Term Disability Paperwork for Parental Leave Requests and other various Leaves of Absence (LOA) 
  • Be the primary point of contact for all VOE, Unemployment, Confirmation of Benefits, and other various HR Paperwork requests 
  • Partner with the HRBPs to assist in termination paperwork within their organizations 

90 Days & Beyond 

  • Own the People Team's Workvivo page and refresh pages where necessary
  • Build our FAQ section in Workvivo as well as refresh the Benefit and Policy pages to encourage and provide self-service models where the majority of questions can be solved by accessing our Workvivo space
  • Add additional self-service resources and materials for most commonly emailed People Inbox questions 
  • Create/add updated/new materials from our Benefit Partners to ensure Employees have access to needed resources offered by our benefit offerings 
  • Manage and Own Benefits Administration by creating a strong alliance with our Benefit Advocates for employee-related questions 
  • Leverage resources in Workvivo to create FAQs for frequently asked benefit-related questions
  • Become proficient in Rippling Insurance and have the ability to problem solve or know when to tag in external resources

💰Salary & Equity: In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary of $65,000-$80,000 as well as stock options.

🏠Home Office Stipend: A one-time $750 to help you create your dream office.

🏢Coworking Space: If you’re not local to our ATL HQ, we’ll provide $250 a month to get you set up with an All Access Membership to WeWork (or a local coworking space in your area).

🐾Pet Insurance: We’ve partnered with Pumpkin to provide insurance for our employee’s fur babies.
