The Human Resources Generalist/Coordinator is responsible for supporting and administering a wide range of HR functions, including benefits administration, employee onboarding, compliance, employee relations, and leave administration. This role serves as a key resource for employees and management by providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and programs while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. The HR Generalist/Coordinator coordinates all aspects of the new hire process, maintains employee records, administers employee benefit programs, and supports disciplinary, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives. Additionally, this position manages driver compliance programs, including DOT and FMCSA requirements, to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and company policies. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional service while fostering a positive workplace culture.


This position is an onsite position Monday - Friday at our Plymouth, MI office.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Administer employee health and welfare benefit plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Reconcile benefit statements, invoices, and enrollment records to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate and facilitate new hire onboarding, including conducting background checks and pre-employment screenings, communicating with candidates, and processing new hire information in ADP.
  • Complete Form I-9 requirements, verify employment eligibility documentation, and maintain I-9 records in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Perform routine tasks necessary to administer and execute human resources programs, including compensation and benefits administration, leave management, employee relations, disciplinary actions and investigations, performance and talent management, employee recognition and engagement, and occupational health and safety.
  • Respond to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, escalating complex or sensitive matters as appropriate. 
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, and termination processes. 
  • Manage driver compliance through Foley by tracking DOT medical cards, administering random drug testing programs, monitoring driver's license eligibility, conducting FMCSA Clearinghouse queries, and performing Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) audits.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as HR best practices. Review and update policies and procedures as needed to ensure compliance. 
  • Stay current on human resources trends, employment law updates, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies that support HR operations.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years related experience required. 
  • SHRM-CP credential preferred. 


Physical Requirements: 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. 

Skills Required
