The People Data Scientist sits within the People Operations team and provides HR data expertise to the business along with maintaining the integrity of the data within the HR system. They will apply statistical theory and methods to collect, interpret, and summarize HR data. Based on these data points, they can make predictions and present clear, actionable recommendations on HR-related issues. They will have a wholistic understanding across HR processes and systems in order to maintain data consistency and improve efficiencies.
The Data Scientist is responsible for working with large and complex datasets to derive insights and recommendations that will inform strategic HR decisions. They will collaborate with HR business partners, analysts, and other stakeholders to develop and implement data-driven solutions that improve the effectiveness of our HR programs and initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Design and generate people analytics reports and dashboards, delivering detailed data insights to assist the HR team with data driven decision making.
- Analyse large, complex datasets related to HR, such as employee demographics, performance, compensation, and engagement data.
- Develop predictive models to identify trends and patterns, forecast outcomes, and inform HR decisions.
- Design and implement experiments to test the effectiveness of HR initiatives and programs.
- Create data visualizations and dashboards in Visier to communicate insights and recommendations to HR and business leaders.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly HR dashboards and reports that are shared with leadership.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in data science, HR analytics, and technology, and leverage this knowledge to drive innovation and continuous improvement in HR.
- Consults and advises business leaders on HR-related issues with fact-based recommendations and action plans.
- Utilizes data to help deliver solutions and strategies to address current and future business challenges.
- Investigate data issues in Workday, collaborating with teams to resolve errors and ensure accurate data flow into Visier.
- Conduct regular data audits, and coordinate with HR Operations and HR Business Partners to ensure data accuracy.
- Work with IT and other stakeholders to ensure the security, privacy, and compliance of HR data and analytics.
- Recommend enhancements to Analyses and Guidebooks within Visier and Reporting within Workday, participating in testing and implementation phases.
- Update training materials and train users on how to access and analyse reports, including guidance on report & metric selection for specific analyses.
- Test the impact of system updates on reporting functionality in both Workday and Visier, in alignment with release schedules.
- Work closely with the People Data and Technology and People Applications function to complete UAT and troubleshoot reporting challenges within Visier and Workday.
- Participate in global HR projects as needed, using expertise to support project goals.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, computer science, or related field
- Experience in data analysis, modelling, and visualization. Experience in HR analytics preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively about complex business problems.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and modelling techniques, such as regression analysis, machine learning, and data mining.
- Expertise in data visualization and reporting tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly and persuasively communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and practices, and their impact on business outcomes.
- Adaptable in a fast moving environment, and able to prioritise and meet tight schedules and targets
