Reports To: Group Head, Legal/Corporate Services and Admin

Job Summary

The Head, Underwriting & Risk Management will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for underwriting and enterprise risk management. He or she will oversee risk assessment, pricing, utilisation review, policy development, and regulatory compliance to strengthen the organisational sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead underwriting strategy, policy development, pricing models, and approval of major quotations.
  • Analyse utilisation trends and identify high-risk cost drivers.
  • Develop risk-mitigation frameworks and coordinate enterprise-wide risk assessments.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (NHIA) and guide product development from an actuarial standpoint.
  • Produce periodic risk and underwriting performance reports.
  • Supervise and develop the underwriting and risk management team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Professional certification (CIIN, ARM, etc.) is an advantage.
  • 7–10 years underwriting/risk experience with strong exposure to HMO operations.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and leadership skills.
