We are looking for an experienced Head of Product Compliance (d/f/m) to join our Compliance Center of Excellence and take ownership over product compliance. As Head of Product Compliance your team stays on the pulse of legal changes, ensuring best practice sharing and enabling product by fostering a strong relationship with customer and product facing teams - being at the intersection between compliance and product.
This position will need to be a true player/coach, working closely with the Compliance Experts as well as Product, Engineering, Customer Experience, Growth, and Sales within Personio to drive success.
Role Responsibilities: What you'll do
This position can be office-based or fully remote from one of the following countries: Germany, Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, or the UK.

  • Strategy and Business development:
    You will lead a team of Product Compliance professionals, including leaders and individual contributors, within our Product and Technology Function here at Personio, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
    Defining processes to identify requirements proactively and influencing our product teams roadmaps to ensure continued product compliance will be your responsibility.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Design efficient processes to facilitate communication and collaboration between compliance and other business functions, leading by example.
    Develop effective working methods between impacted functions, fostering an environment of collaboration and mutual success.
  • Hands-on Leadership:
    Serve as a hands-on leader, stepping in to support team members and directly addressing complex compliance issues when necessary.
    Navigate the balance between product requirements and employer responsibilities, offering practical support and solutions when teams encounter challenges.


Role Requirements: What You Need to Succeed

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in compliance, with specific expertise in German payroll and tax compliance.
  • Proven leadership experience managing international teams, ideally in a complex, compliance-heavy environment.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a result-oriented way.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly collaborative and adaptable, with a flexible approach to work that embraces change.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to compliance challenges.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
