About the role

The Head of Performance Marketing is a strategic leadership position responsible for driving measurable growth through data-driven marketing strategies across paid media, digital channels, and performance-based initiatives.
This role requires a deep understanding of digital marketing tactics, data analytics, and customer acquisition, alongside the ability to lead a high-performing team to execute on revenue goals, optimize marketing spend, and maximize return on investment (ROI) value.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the development and execution of performance marketing strategies, aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
  • Oversee and manage digital acquisition channels including, but not limited to, paid search (PPC), SEO, social media advertising, display, programmatic, and affiliate marketing.
  • Build integrated marketing campaigns that drive customer acquisition, retention, and overall business growth.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and data-driven decision-making within the team.
  • Lead the analysis and optimization of performance marketing campaigns using data-driven insights.
  • Continuously monitor KPIs (such as CPA, CPC, ROI, ROAS, etc.) to ensure campaigns are delivering optimal results.
  • Conduct A/B testing, funnel analysis, and conversion rate optimization to improve campaign performance.
  • Provide regular reports to senior leadership, presenting clear insights and recommendations based on data.
  • Develop and manage the performance marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources across channels.
  • Monitor and optimize spend to ensure cost-effectiveness and ROI for each marketing initiative.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., content, creative, product, and web) to align performance marketing strategies with broader business objectives.
  • Provide detailed reporting and analysis of campaign performance to key stakeholders, including the executive team, to inform strategic decisions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging marketing technologies to keep the company ahead of the curve.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimization of marketing technology platforms, such as marketing automation, analytics tools, and ad platforms.
  • Ensure the marketing technology stack integrates effectively with other business systems and provides actionable insights.

About you

  • Demonstrable experience in performance marketing, in a leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of paid media channels, conversion optimization, digital marketing channels & technologies.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
  • Proficient in data analysis, using tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, Tableau, or similar to derive insights and optimize campaign performance.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to communicate complex data and insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage large budgets efficiently and allocate spend across diverse marketing channels.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, Google Analytics, and other digital marketing platforms.

Interview process

The selection process will incorporate competency-based questions including an assessment of your knowledge and transferable skills. For candidates who progress to the next stage, there will be a presentation or assessment to prepare and an online psychometric assessment.

Working schedule

This role is based in our Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This is a permanent full-time role, Monday to Friday. For this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern of working in the office and at home.
