Head of IT Risk

The opportunity
We’re seeking a Head of IT Risk to lead and manage our Line 1 technology risk functions across QBE AUSPAC division and into QBE Global Technology Risk. Reporting to General Manager, Technology Strategy and Governance, this role will ensure oversight and management of IT risk initiatives, compliance tracking, and ongoing communication with both Line 2 risk team and our Group Tech Risk team.
This role includes leading a small team and offers an opportunity to significantly impact our risk management practices within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Your new role
In this role, you will:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of technology risk across AUSPAC divisional Technology and QBE Global Technology & Operations.
- Track and report technology risks to the Chief Information Officer, ensuring risk insights are well-documented and communicated effectively.
- Serve as the primary interface with Group Technology Risk and Line 2 risk contacts, ensuring alignment and support on cross-functional risk activities.
- Contribute to monthly IT risk committee meetings, driving key conversations and reporting on risk management progress.
- Design and execute risk management initiatives, from inception through implementation, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulatory frameworks.
- Manage and mentor a team of two, fostering professional growth and supporting operational goals.

- a comprehensive understanding of technology in a risk environment with hand on experience
- Be adaptable, organized and able to engage with high-level stakeholders.
- Proven experience managing IT risk within a complex and regulated environment
- Strong operational understanding of the technology lifecycle & risk metrics
- Ability to communicate effectively with high-level executives and stakeholders, adapting as priorities shift.
- Highly organized, able to multitask, and comfortable managing evolving priorities.
