Role Summary:
The Instrumentation & Control Engineer will handle all aspects of electrical engineering related to dry screw vacuum pumps, liquid ring vacuum pump and liquid ring compressor systems. This includes all related steps like standards and specification analysis through component selection, supplier discussion up to the creation of the engineering documentation like wiring diagrams and control panel designs.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implementation and review of electrical wiring diagrams, bill of materials, control panel drawings, junction box drawings, cable plans and conduit routings.
- Review and interpret customer specific electrical and instrumentation specifications to plan adapt the standard products accordingly.
- Review and interpret global electrical engineering standards. Review components, documents and products for the compliance to these standards.
- Guide mechanical engineers, designers and technicians from conceptual design through production and testing to support the other engineers with the electrical and instrumentation knowledge.
- Interface with other engineering disciplines and other departments including supply chain, quality, and operations.
- Assist of the software engineers with the electrical knowledge to support the implementation.
- Review quotations and proposals from vendors.
- Provide input for electrical, instrumentation and control sections of the operational manuals for the customers.
- Creation of work instructions regarding electrical engineering
Requirements:
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial electrical and instrumentation engineering.
- Instrumentation including control valves, flow meters and transmitters (pressure, temperature and level).
- Knowledge about relevant national and international standards as they apply to electrical, instrumentation and controls.
- Relevant standards: NEC, NFPA, CSA, FM, and UL.
- Knowledge about process flow diagrams, wiring diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, cable plans and conduit routings
- Knowledge of the software E-Plan, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Experience with rotating equipment and pumping systems
- Knowledge of process piping systems and associated equipment including vacuum pumps, liquid pumps, motors, heat exchangers and pressure vessels.
Skills Required
- Degree from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial electrical design, preferably in chemical, oil & gas sectors
- Knowledge of process piping systems and associated equipment
- Familiarity with national and international standards for electrical, instrumentation and controls
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, CSA, FM, and UL standards
- E-Plan, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD experience
- Experience with electrical specifications and wiring diagrams integration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work without close supervision
