Core Duties/Responsibilities
Role Summary
The Risk Manager is responsible for coordinating and executing the group’s work in:
Ensuring risks are identified, assessed, monitored, and reported across the Group of companies in accordance with the Group Risk Policy and Group Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework (“EWRMF”), including oversight and challenge of risks and control assessments, and remediation activities by the Business Units. Working with and assisting the Group Risk Director with the day-to-day management of the Group’s Risk framework, you’ll manage the development and delivery of risk reporting and presentations that further articulate the state of risks within the EQ Group. Of note is the ongoing development of an enhanced Risk and Control framework that emphasizes Process Mapping, Process Risk and Control Self Assessments, and related remediation actions to improve the EQ Group control environment at the process level.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have:

demonstrable Risk Management expertise and experience
-
navigate across the EQ Group, including regular interaction with the 1st Line Business Unit Risk and Control teams and designated Risk Leaders, to oversee and challenge risk identification, control assessments, and mitigation activities
-
experience with the development, production, or review of key risk indicators and board level MI
-
up-to-date knowledge of trends in the Financial Services industry relevant to Risk Management and Corporate Governance requirements
-
ability to develop and implement advanced risk analytics, reporting and presentations.
Job responsibilities
-
Ensure that the Group EWRMF is aligned to the Group’s business model.
-
Provide specialist Risk Management guidance leading to the identification and assessment of risks and risk controls across the business, required to meet strategic goals.

Proactively interact with the Business Units and Group Functions regarding their process mapping and related process risk and control self-assessments, with subsequent analysis and reporting of related risks, required control remediation activity, and resulting impacts on levels of residual risk.

Raise awareness of the benefits of effective Risk Management throughout Group companies.

Support the development of training, consultation, and engagement with management on risk awareness across the Group.

Responsible for ensuing Group companies and relevant operational departments embed Risk Management within business processes and ensure they are appropriately owned and controlled by the first line of defence.

Constructively challenge management’s assessment of control effectiveness, and the evidence provided to support their assessment.

Support the Group Risk Director in consulting with the Board on the overall risk strategy and define risk tolerance and risk appetite.

Support the Group Risk Director with reporting and presentation requirements for certain EQ legal entity boards.

Monitoring Board approved Risk Appetite and ensuring that tolerances are adhered to by management.

Group Risk leadership in capabilities and usage of our risk tool (LogicGate) including Power User Training.

Develop and execute portfolio level reporting of risks, controls, and remediation activities using LogicGate, and advanced reporting capabilities (Power BI and AI), where appropriate, to further identify trends, threats, and opportunities.

Monitor and lead governance oversight for GRCLS owned risks and audit findings to ensure effective and timely remediation.

Provide subject matter expertise contribution into Group Risk developed EQ risk training.

As part of the Group Risk function, ensure there is oversight and challenge across the EQ Group Business Unit and Support functions to ensure key controls are designed and operating in an effective and efficient manner.
