THE ROLE

The Greenhouse Production Assistant supports daily greenhouse production by seeding, transplanting, harvesting, moving growing equipment and materials, and composting unused plants. This position monitors plant quality, reports signs of pests or disease, follows production schedules, and helps maintain clean production and common areas. The role performs assigned work in accordance with employee safety, food safety, sanitation, and personal protective equipment requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Greenhouse Production

  • Perform seeding duties, including operating assigned seeding machines.
  • Transplant seedlings in accordance with established quality standards.
  • Harvest mature plants as instructed and in accordance with the production schedule.
  • Move and rearrange growing equipment as needed.
  • Assist with loading and unloading greenhouse materials.
  • Compost unused plants as instructed and in accordance with the production schedule.

Plant Quality and Health

  • Identify and cull plants affected by pests or disease and report all signs of pest or disease to the supervisor.

Employee and Food Safety Compliance

  • Follow the facility GMPs.
  • Execute daily processes that enforce food safety protocols and maintain compliance.
  • Follow Good Agricultural Practices, company food safety policies, employee safety policies, and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Wash hands properly and wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Assist with daily cleaning of production areas, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist with periodic cleaning of facility common areas.

Additional Support

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

WHO YOU ARE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to work comfortably in summer heat conditions and air-conditioned rooms.
  • Ability to work at a steady pace with close attention to detail.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Open availability to work varying schedules, including weekends when needed.
  • Valid authorization to work in the United States.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Attention to detail and the ability to identify plant-quality, pest, and disease concerns.
  • Ability to follow production schedules, quality standards, food safety requirements, and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently across seeding, transplanting, transfers, harvesting, material handling, and cleaning activities as assigned.
  • Ability to operate assigned greenhouse equipment safely and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to complete required training and maintain accurate grow logs, sanitation logs, and transplant tags when assigned.
