ExamWorks is seeking a business analysis professional with demonstrated experience in a governance program to join the team as a Governance Analyst.
The Governance Analyst is responsible for operationalizing and managing an enterprise governance structure covering AI, Automation, Data & Analytics and Product investment and organizational innovation. This role engages business stakeholders, decision makers, managers, and technologists to ensure the success of and commitment to governance processes. Role responsibilities will touch on a range of governance activities, including data catalog, glossary, lineage, classifications, policies, collections, scans, and security; AI assessment and posture to meet and address customer limitations; and the development and processing of risk and value scores for a wide variety of use cases. This role will be responsible for establishing and enforcing governance best practices for security, repeatable assets, quality, strategies, workflows, and write-back to source systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Own and evolve existing governance policies, standards, and operating procedures based on adoption data and business feedback.
- Manage the intake, review, and escalation of policy exceptions/waivers.
- Support governance council/committee operating cadence — agendas, decision logs, RAID tracking, scorecards.
- Track and report framework adherence (not just "data quality metrics") against defined maturity targets.
- Gather requirements from business and technical stakeholders; facilitate intake and business case development to evaluate innovation use cases and inform design solutions.
- Support EW subject matter experts in the build and maintenance of tools and functions such as data catalogs, business glossaries, data lineage, risk scores and supporting documentation.
- Partner with security and privacy teams to apply access controls and data protection standards to governed assets.
- Monitor and report on governance program adoption and outcomes to leadership.
- Train and enable business and technical users on governance standards, tooling, and responsibilities.
- Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related fields.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a business analysis role.
- Demonstrated experience in a governance program preferred
- Experience with model/algorithm risk assessment or documentation (model cards, intended-use statements).
- Hands-on experience across data governance disciplines: data catalog, business glossary, data lineage, classifications, policies, collections, scans, and security, across both on-premises and cloud data sources.
- Experience merging and transforming datasets drawn from multiple source systems.
- Working knowledge of a data governance or metadata management platform.
- Familiarity with the state insurance-AI disclosure rules and the NAIC AI Model and with privacy and regulatory requirements governing data and use of AI.
- Experience building and managing risk scoring for diverse use cases.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with requirements translation and Agile delivery practices.
- Proficiency with standard office productivity and collaboration suites, for example Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail, critical thinking, and intellectual curiosity.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Must have commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and fostering a positive, collaborative environment.
- Ability to follow all company policies and procedures in effect at time of hire and as they may change or be added from time to time.
