Your role and responsibilities  

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as the architectural authority for your technology area of responsibility. Each day, you will guide and lead Solution Architects to ensure the integrity of the technology architecture. You will also showcase your expertise by realizing the benefits from standardization, synergy, and optimization of the technology landscape across business and domains.

This role is contributing to the ABB Automation Measurement and Analytics Division in Data and Analytics function. Main stakeholders are Automation Measurement and Analytics leadership team, factories management, operations and domain experts, data and technology teams, governance and compliance stakeholders, product and project management. 
 
You will be mainly accountable for: 

  • Enterprise Data Analytical Strategy & Governance: Define and maintain a unified data analytical architecture strategy for PAMA division that aligns with its global business goals, ensuring consistency across regions and domains. 

  • Establish Data Standards and Policies: Create and enforce standards for analytical data modeling, metadata, data quality, security, and governance across the enterprise. 

  • Enable Scalable and Interoperable Data Platforms: Design PAMA data analytical platforms that support scalability, interoperability, and integration across diverse systems and geographies. 

  • Drive Data Product and Platform Innovation: Lead the adoption of advanced technologies in PAMA data analytics such as AI/ML, real-time data streaming, and cloud-native architectures. 

  • Ensure Compliance and Risk Management: Oversee global PAMA data analytics compliance with regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), ensuring data privacy, integrity, and security across all jurisdictions. 

  • Collaborate Across Business and IT: Act as a strategic partner to PAMA business leaders, data teams, and IT, translating business needs into robust, sustainable data solutions. 

  • Lead Enterprise-Wide Data Initiatives: Guide the implementation of enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, and semantic layers, ensuring alignment with long-term PAMA data strategy. 

 

 
Qualifications for the role

  • Education & Certifications: bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science, information technology, or related field.  

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in data architecture, 15+ years of experience in data engineering, or enterprise IT roles. Proven track record in designing and implementing enterprise-wide data strategies across global organizations. Experience with large-scale AI-ready data platforms, including data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time streaming systems. 

  • Technical Skills: Deep expertise in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), metadata management, and semantic layer design. Strong knowledge of cloud-native data architectures and technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).  

  • Proficiency in data integration tools, ETL/ELT frameworks, and APIs. Understanding data privacy and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). 

  • Strategic & Leadership Skills: Ability to define and drive enterprise data analytics strategy and architectural vision. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across business and technical teams. Experience leading cross-functional teams and mentoring data architects or engineers. 

  • Governance & Compliance: Expertise in data governance frameworks, data quality management, and master data management (MDM). Ability to ensure global compliance with data protection laws and internal standards. 

  • Business Acumen: Ability to translate business needs into scalable data solutions. Experience working in multi-national environments with diverse regulatory and operational requirements. 

  • Certifications in data architecture, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), or data governance (e.g., DAMA, CDMP) are highly valued. 

  • Familiarity with AI/ML data pipelines, feature stores, and training data governance.
