Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated GitHub Specialist to join our dynamic IT team. 

Responsibilities:

  • Implement GitHub
  • Ensure conversion of existing Git Repositories maintain code commit history, branches and tags
  • Create GitHub actions for the continuous integration/continuous delivery to cloud and on-premise resources.
  • Train developers and administrators on GitHub best practices, ensuring smooth adoption of the platform for collaboration and code versioning.
  • Create, document, and train the stakeholder staff on a framework for use of GitHub for its projects.
  • Advise the stakeholders on the optimal way to utilize GitHub and ensure that GitHub works seamlessly with Jira, and Confluence.
  • Assist with coordination of GitHub system requirements identification, conduct needs analyses, and training design, delivery, evaluation, and management.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to validate training requirements and evaluate training quality.
  • Facilitate post training performance critique and development sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Computer Science or related area is required. Masters degree is preferred.
  • GitHub Certification preferred.
  • 14+ years of experience with GitHub repositories, including setup, version control, and integration with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Expertise in in creating GitHub Actions.
  • Experience working with developers to ensure best practices in code management, version control, and collaboration.
  • Advanced proficiency in GitHub administration, repository management, and integration with tools like Jira and Jenkins.
  • Strong understanding of version control workflows (e.g., GitFlow), code branching, and pull request processes to ensure seamless collaboration across development teams.
  • Experience in implementing security controls, including access permissions, encryption, and multi-factor authentication for secure GitHub usage.
  • Expertise in managing large-scale code migrations, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruption to development teams.
  • Has thorough understanding on migration from Azure DevOps to GitHub (Enterprise Cloud)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage actions to meet changing deadlines and requirements within a high volume, high stress environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and demonstrated professionalism.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and able to work in a team and independently.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Highly responsive to requested needs.
