Our Why

Datacom works with organisations and communities across New Zealand and Australia to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.

About the role (your why)

Step into a Product role where you’ll shape the future of products that truly matter. You’ll lead with vision, guiding your team through discovery, innovation, and delivery—transforming ideas into solutions that customers love, and businesses rely on. You will drive customer and business value by owning both new products, leading a product area characterized by ambiguity and interdependencies.

Here, you’ll embrace complexity and turn it into opportunity, crafting strategies that grow markets, accelerate recurring revenue, and strengthen our competitive edge. Your leadership won’t just manage roadmaps—it will inspire bold thinking, collaboration, and breakthrough results.

This is more than a product role. It’s a chance to mentor the  product managers, build lasting partnerships, and drive outcomes that define what success looks like for our customers and our company. If you’re ready to leave your mark on a SaaS product portfolio and make an impact at scale, this is the role for you

What you’ll bring:

Product Lifecycle Management: Leading the end-to-end product lifecycle, from initial research and ideation through implementation and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with market needs

Roadmap Management: Owning and managing product roadmaps that align with overarching business goals and capitalize on market opportunities, ensuring strategic direction

Mentorship and Team Development: Actively mentoring team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth to enhance team performance

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborating with various teams, including GTM, sales, engineering, and customer support, to guarantee quality and timely delivery of products that exceed customer expectations

Process Improvement: Competence in critically assessing team processes, implementing changes that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in product management

Design Consistency: Advocacy for consistent design principles across products, ensuring that design systems are effectively utilized for clarity and user understanding

Technical proficiency: Demonstrated technical acumen with a clear grasp of technical landscapes, the ability to inform and shape technical strategy, and the skill to evaluate design and engineering trade-offs to deliver creative, high-quality solutions at pace.

Strategic proficiency: In AI capability and application, adept at evaluating platforms, frameworks, and models for specific use cases, and crafting a prioritized AI roadmap and product strategy that aligns with business objectives.

Programme Leadership: Defining vision and success metrics, aligning stakeholders, orchestrating cross-functional teams, managing budgets and risks, and delivering strategic outcomes that drive business objectives.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the product vision, roadmap and success metrics
  • Lead and mentor a team of product managers to deliver high-impact solutions
  • Translate customer insights into prioritized features with design, engineering and GTM, leveraging new AI tools where possible
  • Ensure AU/NZ payroll compliance and drive automated, scalable workflows
  • Manage budgets, timelines and risks to hit strategic objectives
  • Coordinate delivery from epics to release, swiftly resolving dependencies
  • Collaborate cross-functionally for seamless product launches
  • Communicate vision, progress and impact to senior leadership
