About Eftsure

Eftsure is a fast-scaling SaaS fraud prevention technology company protecting businesses from B2B payment fraud through real-time vendor verification and payment protection.

As cybercrime and payment fraud continue to evolve, Eftsure provides businesses with a critical control designed to help ensure they never pay the wrong people.

As we continue to scale across the United States, APAC and Europe, we're looking for an experienced General Counsel to lead our global legal, risk and compliance functions and help Eftsure navigate the opportunities and complexities that come with international growth.

About the role

Reporting directly to the CEO, our General Counsel will be Eftsure's senior legal leader globally, providing strategic advice to the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team while overseeing Legal, Risk and Compliance across the US, APAC and Europe.

This is a broad, highly commercial leadership role. You'll advise the business across corporate and commercial law, technology contracts, sales and partnership opportunities, privacy and data protection, employment law, intellectual property, governance and regulatory matters.

A significant part of the role will be ensuring Eftsure can continue to scale globally while maintaining strong legal, privacy, cybersecurity and regulatory frameworks. We're therefore looking for someone with strong, hands-on experience advising on US data privacy and protection law, including CCPA/CPRA, as well as experience navigating privacy requirements across other international jurisdictions.

You'll need to be equally comfortable advising the Board on an emerging regulatory issue, negotiating a complex commercial agreement and helping teams understand how to manage legal risk without unnecessarily slowing the business down.

What you'll be responsible for
  • Act as a trusted legal and strategic advisor to the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team.

  • Lead Eftsure's Legal, Risk and Compliance functions across the United States, APAC and Europe.

  • Provide legal counsel across corporate and commercial matters, technology contracts, sales and partnerships, privacy and data protection, employment law, immigration, trademarks and intellectual property.

  • Review, draft, negotiate and own a diverse range of commercial agreements, including customer contracts and renewals, software licensing agreements, vendor contracts, employment contracts, NDAs, terms of use and privacy policies.

  • Own and maintain Eftsure's data privacy, cybersecurity and broader legal and regulatory compliance program across our operating jurisdictions.

  • Advise the business on data privacy and protection requirements, including CCPA/CPRA, EU GDPR and Australian and New Zealand privacy law.

  • Identify emerging legal and regulatory risks and provide practical, commercially appropriate mitigation strategies.

  • Keep the Executive Leadership Team and Board informed of legislative and regulatory developments that could impact Eftsure, our customers or our operations.

  • Maintain and uplift contract templates, negotiation playbooks, workflows and legal processes.

  • Lead and support M&A and other corporate transactions, including due diligence, deal structuring and post-transaction integration.

  • Support Board and corporate governance activities, including Board materials, resolutions and corporate secretarial functions.

  • Manage litigation, disputes and claims and oversee external counsel and legal service providers.

  • Oversee Eftsure's APAC and French legal teams and global IT security, risk and compliance team.

  • Manage legal, risk, IT security and compliance budgets effectively.

What we're looking for

We're looking for an established senior legal leader who combines exceptional legal judgement with strong commercial instincts.

You'll bring:

  • A Juris Doctor (JD), or regional equivalent, from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one US state bar. Admission in California, Texas, New York or Florida is preferred.

  • 15+ years' post-qualification legal experience, including significant in-house experience, ideally within SaaS, fintech or technology.

  • Previous experience as a General Counsel or senior legal leader, with experience leading senior and junior lawyers, ideally within a scaling, venture-backed or PE-backed global technology company.

  • Demonstrated experience advising on data privacy and protection law, including CCPA/CPRA. This is a mandatory requirement for the role.

  • Experience with privacy requirements across international jurisdictions, including EU GDPR and Australian and New Zealand privacy law.

  • Experience operating across multiple jurisdictions, including the United States, APAC and Europe.

  • Strong knowledge across corporate, commercial, contract, employment and data privacy law.

  • The ability to translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, commercially sound advice for non-legal stakeholders.

Highly regarded:

  • Experience working with teams maintaining certified organisational frameworks such as ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2.

  • Fluency in a language other than English, particularly French.

The kind of leader who will thrive here

You're commercially minded and understand that great in-house legal advice isn't simply about identifying risk – it's about helping the business understand that risk and make informed decisions.

You have the judgement and credibility to influence at Board and Executive level, but you're also comfortable getting into the detail when required. You can simplify complex issues, anticipate legal and regulatory risks before they arise and balance legal rigour with the pace of a scaling technology company.

You'll be comfortable working autonomously, leading teams across multiple regions and partnering with leaders across GTM, Finance, Product, Technology and People & Culture.

Why Eftsure?

This is an opportunity to take on a genuinely global General Counsel mandate at an important stage of Eftsure's growth.

You'll have direct access to the CEO and Board, lead legal, risk and compliance strategy across multiple international markets, and play a critical role in building the frameworks and capability that allow Eftsure to scale with confidence.

If you're an experienced legal leader who combines legal rigour, commercial judgement and deep data privacy expertise, we'd love to hear from you.
