Job Summary:
Caterpillar has been leveraging AI for years to deliver processes and products. Generative AI is a form of artificial intelligence which has a human-level of cognitive function, across a wide variety of domains such as language processing, image processing, computational functioning to mimic human-like reasoning. GenAI is an emerging technology that will play a vital role in profitable growth for Caterpillar.
Caterpillar IT is working hard to enable a safe environment where the business can innovate and thrive. They have developed Caterpillar IT's GenAI COE services to operationalize and deliver business value by developing deep expertise to be able to scale and drive efficiencies, ensure we are providing solutions using the right technology to support the growing demand for GenAI COE services.
We are seeking a highly qualified IT Manager to lead our team of developers in creating advanced applications utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Generative AI (GenAI). The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the development process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, innovative solutions that align with our business objectives.
What You Will Do:
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Project Management: Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure successful project completion.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide expert technical guidance on AI, ML, and GenAI technologies and methodologies.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and performance of developed applications through rigorous testing and validation.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and present project updates.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote continuous learning and improvement within the team, staying abreast of industry trends.

What You Have:
  • Education: Bachelor's OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in leading people from application development with a focus on AI, ML, and/or GenAI application development.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of AI, ML, and GenAI technologies, frameworks, and tools.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading and managing a team of developers.
  • Project Management: Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • The ideal location for this role is East Peoria-IL, Dallas-TX or Nashville-TN
  • This position requires the employee to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
  • This position may require 10% travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$144,960.00 - $217,320.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
