Job Summary:
As a BI Infrastructure Analyst, you will assist in the administration, support, and installation of BI Tool environments, including Tableau, Power BI, ThoughtSpot, Business Objects, and Cognos. The BI Tool software is deployed on Windows, Linux, and Citrix servers. Therefore, you will have opportunities to work with other infrastructure teams to troubleshoot, integrate, and provide infrastructure solutions to business and technical problems.
What You Will Do:
  • Providing 24/7 support, along with other team members, for all enterprise BI tool environments.
  • Offering technical support for the BI Tool Enterprise software applications for visualization, which includes a suite of applications such as Business Dashboards, Data Discovery, Big Data Analysis, Data Visualization, Mapping, Data Stories, Time Series, and Mobile Business Intelligence. BI Tools are web-based visualization reporting toolsets that allow users to access a wide variety of data sources live or with Data Engine extracts.
  • Performing capacity planning and installation of new hardware and software to align with Business Unit projects.
  • Working directly with BI Tool Vendors to resolve product issues between vendor-supplied software and Caterpillar-supplied structure components (hardware, software, and/or environmental).
  • Following existing change management and incident/problem management processes when maintaining environments.
  • Documenting and communicating issues/findings/problems to business partners and other infrastructure support/team members accordingly.
  • Developing, enhancing, supporting, and validating monitoring and alerting capabilities of the BI Tool environments.
  • Providing consultation to business units or partners within Caterpillar.

What You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience with Business Intelligence platform services.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in infrastructure or application support.
  • Advanced understanding of Windows Server Operating System.
  • Advanced understanding of Apache/Tomcat application servers.
  • Experience writing, testing, and using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Solid understanding of modern web technologies and trends (e.g., REST APIs, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript frameworks).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills, demonstrated through at least 7 years of professional experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience collaborating across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in team environments, ideally in fast-paced or cross-functional settings.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • Experience with Linux Operating Systems, including administration, shell scripting, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and platforms, such as dimensional modeling, ETL processes, and tools like Snowflake.
  • Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and strong SQL skills for querying, performance tuning, and data validation.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including domains, firewalls, access rules, and how they impact BI platform connectivity and security.

  • The ideal location for this role is East Peoria - IL, Irving - TX, Nashville - TN
  • This position requires the employee to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
  • This position may require 10% travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
