Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

1. Being an active business partner to the China Region business and leadership team, continually working to identify strategic opportunities to increase growth/reduce costs, engage in intelligent risk taking, and identify and reduce enterprise risks
2. Driving cross-business, global, and regional synergies to maximize effectiveness of the global GEHC legal team
3. Advising the business on commercial, regulatory, litigation, privacy, antitrust, improper payments, and advertising/promotional matters
4. Providing regulatory and compliance advice and training in collaboration with the Regulatory and Compliance specialist in GE Healthcare
5. Applying combined business and legal judgment to deals, relationships, and issues requiring legal attention
6. Collaboration with global legal colleagues and subject matter experts to analyze and advise the China Region commercial business on complex legal/compliance issues that arise out of their respective global operations
7. Structure and negotiate complex transactions and oversee outside counsel
8. In conjunction with GEHC Chief Litigation Counsel, coordinate management of relevant litigation of significant impact to GE Healthcare
9. Manage and develop GEHC China Region legal team
10.Manage GEHC China Panel of law firms to build up “in-China, for-China” legal domain and expertise
11.  Help support cross-modality transactions and enterprise solutions deals

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. JD (or equivalent) with active bar membership; US bar qualification preferred
2. 15 years of business law experience at a large law firm or corporate legal department, including but not limited to drafting, negotiating and closing complex business transactions in a regulated environment (i.e. purchase, sale, and distribution agreements). 
3. Experience in the healthcare industry and previous exposure to healthcare industry regulations, particularly including a pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device focus
4. Significant experience and proven ability to function as a senior member of a management team and manage a cross-functional or global legal function.
5. Demonstrated experience providing strategic and pragmatic legal advice and ability to identify and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively in a highly regulated environment.
6. Demonstrated experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast-paced environment.
7. Ability to communicate using English (and local language) and outstanding interpersonal/communications skills.
