Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrate accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks.
Execute robust processes for severe accident analyses using MAAP and MELCOR software to support optimization of systems and component design for safety and reliability.
Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions to meet near-term and long-range engineering needs.
Provide technical consultation on product problems, including guidance, direction, and training to engineers specializing in severe accident analysis.
Lead and provide key technical direction to large projects with critical business impact.
Conduct component and system integration with the overall new nuclear plant design, ensuring maximum performance, operability, and design to cost.
Manage product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down.
Drive the identification of verification and validation (V&V) requirements at the plant, system, and component level.
Define plant-level design requirements for systems, components, subcontractors, and partner teams.
Manage the interface between systems, components, and project/product management organizations.
Support other GE businesses, internal and external customers, and suppliers as required.
Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers.
Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage and protect the intellectual property rights of the company.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering capacity.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Proficiency in using MAAP and MELCOR software for severe accident analysis
Desired Characteristics:
Master’s or PhD in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) is preferred.
Experience with Nuclear Island, Turbine Island, and Balance of Plant (BOP) systems and associated safety analyses design bases.
Experience as a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) at a nuclear power plant is strongly desired.
SRO experience in multiple capacities including on-shift, outage prep, work control, and/or training.
Significant commercial nuclear engineering experience in multiple capacities including Design, Licensing, Severe Accident Analysis, and/or Systems -OR- and a few years of shipyard nuclear systems engineering experience.
Requirements Management experience utilizing DOORS or similar tool.
Licensed Professional Engineer.
Strong knowledge of plant operations, licensing, and design bases, transient and accident analysis.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
