The Electronic Market Making Cash Trading team systematically provides liquidity in US Equities and ETFs, both on-exchange and to low-touch client flow. The team leverages quantitative research combined with low-latency trading infrastructure to develop and implement automated trading and risk management strategies. We’re a small team that demands a high level of ownership and accountability from each contributor, while strongly emphasizing collaboration and transparency. Engineers on the team are deeply involved in both software and strategy development. We are seeking a dedicated and ambitious engineer who thrives in a challenging environment and wants to make a meaningful impact at the firm.
Your Impact
You will be working on building and enhancing platforms focused on electronic trading, market making and execution. You will work with other engineers and trading teams to improve all aspects of execution, price-making and risk management. You’ll do this with a keen eye on performance, guided by a robust measurement framework and lots of experimentation. You will have an opportunity to develop a deep understanding of how GS interacts with some of the most dynamic and liquid markets in the world.
Responsibilities
Design, build and maintain high performance, low latency trading platform which can evolve and adapt to changes in our fast-paced, global business environment.
Analyze trading system performance and identify areas for improvement.
Generate ideas for system enhancements that drive commercial performance.
Implement, test and deploy these ideas.
Improve the safety and reliability of trading systems.
Manage work to balance the short-term needs of the business with strategic enhancements.
Understand global market structure, regulations and exchange requirements.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor/Master’s degree in STEM with 5 to 10 years of experience developing software architecture in C/ C++
Strong track record of designing, developing and maintaining reliable trading components and critical infrastructure
A deep passion for technology and software development
Sound understanding of multi-threaded application design and development and experience with lock-free data structures
Professional experience working with distributed systems
Knowledge of CPU microarchitecture, caches and memory subsystems and experience with micro-optimizations
Experience in low latency messaging, TCP/UDP tuning, Linux latency tunings is preferred
Experience with low latency trading platform is preferable but not necessary
Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with statistics and data-science methodologies
Experience with Python and data-science packages (e.g. numpy, scikit-learn)
Experience building and maintaining high-performance research infrastructure for large data inputs
