Department Overview
The Computer-Aided Dispatch Center, a crucial component of cutting-edge group communication solutions, is chiefly responsible for effective dispatching. The responsibility of developing integrated dispatch solutions lies with the Astro Console Team, known for their Dispatch and Content Logging abilities.
Their principal function involves facilitating audio communication between dispatchers and radio users within the public safety sector. This includes a diverse group of professionals, such as 911 call handlers, firefighters, police, military - essentially wherever real-time, reliable, secure communication is a priority. In addition, to elevate operator performance and efficiency, an array of features are available such as call logging, instant recording, and text communication.
Our cross-functional Astro Console team, based in Cracow, is a global ensemble of 70+ dedicated professionals including software engineers, testers, scrum masters, and product owners striving to deliver the best solutions.

Job Description

The Dispatch and Logging team is looking for specialists eager to develop the mission critical products. As a part of a cross functional Scrum Team you will actively participate in the end to end development process working closely with Product Owner and business stakeholders.

The Role: We are seeking a talented and proactive System Engineer to strengthen our lab operations. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the health, stability, and evolution of our lab infrastructure, ensuring that our engineering teams have the robust and flexible environment they need to excel. You will be a key player in maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting complex systems, contributing directly to the success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hardware Management: Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of server hardware (Dell, HP), networking equipment (Juniper, Fortigate), and other lab devices.

  • Network & Server Configuration: Configure and manage network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls) and server operating systems to ensure optimal performance and connectivity.

  • Virtualization & Cloud: Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot virtual machines (VMs) and potentially other virtualized or containerized environments.

  • Software Lifecycle Management: Execute software upgrades, patching, and deployments across various systems within the lab environment.

  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex configuration issues, system malfunctions, and performance bottlenecks in a timely manner.

  • Lab Environment Evolution: Actively participate in the planning, execution, and documentation of updates and modifications to the lab infrastructure to meet evolving team requirements and technological advancements.

  • Collaboration & Support: Work closely with other engineering teams to understand their needs, provide technical support, and ensure the lab environment effectively supports their projects.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for lab configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.


Basic Requirements
  • Proven experience as a System Engineer, Lab Engineer, IT Administrator, or similar role.

  • Strong practical experience with hardware installation and troubleshooting (servers, networking equipment).

  • Deep understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls).

  • Proficiency in administering server operating systems (e.g., Linux distributions, Windows Server).

  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, KVM, Hyper-V).

  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation.

  • Ability to diagnose and solve complex technical problems systematically.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a service-oriented mindset.

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Bonus Points (Nice to Have):

  • Computer networking at CCNA level or equivalent (formal certification is welcomed but not required).

  • Practical OS knowledge, administration and configuration perspective (Windows Server and Linux).

  • Electrical qualifications (SEP 1kV).

  • Willingness to work on-site
