Forward Deployed Engineer
Location: US (Remote / SF preferred)
Compensation: USD/year base + uncapped commission (details shared during the interview process)

About the Role
This is a hybrid engineering and commercial role — not a traditional architect position. You'll embed directly with customers, translate their hardest problems into working AWS solutions, and stay hands-on from the first conversation through production rollout. You're measured by outcomes the customer can feel, and by the business you help create.
You'll lead technical discovery, build rapid proofs of concept that win trust, and convert that trust into signed engagements and expansions. Because you're closest to the customer, you share directly in the revenue you generate through a competitive, uncapped commission structure.
What You'll Do
Customer Embedding
- Deploy directly into customer environments — remotely or on-site — as the primary technical partner, owning the relationship from discovery through delivery
- Serve as a hands-on escalation point for complex technical issues during delivery
Build to Win
- Develop high-impact proofs of concept and working prototypes that demonstrate value quickly and move deals forward
- Design and implement migration, modernization, and DevOps solutions, staying hands-on throughout the project lifecycle
Drive Revenue
- Identify expansion and new-engagement opportunities within your accounts, lead the technical sale, and close
- Create detailed level-of-effort estimates and scope-of-work documents that turn discovery into signed statements of work
Lead Technical Discovery
- Act as the primary technical voice in customer calls, leading discussions, scoping needs, and presenting solutions
- Conduct Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) assessments and lead workshops to evaluate cloud migration readiness
Team & Growth
- Guide team members on AWS solutions, migration strategies, and field best practices
- Stay current on AWS offerings, DevOps tooling, and emerging technologies
What We're Looking For
Required
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, EKS, and ECS
- Proven ability to lead technical conversations and translate business needs into solutions that close
- Track record of leading successful AWS migration and modernization projects end to end
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, AWS CodeSuite, CircleCI)
- Hands-on experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
- Familiarity with the AWS Well-Architected Framework
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in real time, in front of customers
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English
Strongly Preferred
- AWS Professional and specialty certifications
- Prior experience in a forward deployed, solutions engineering, pre-sales, or cloud consulting role with a commercial component
- Experience with Data, Machine Learning, or AI technologies
- A history of growing accounts or driving revenue as a technical contributor
- Knowledge of advanced AWS services or emerging technologies
