Job Description

I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

The Food/Prop Stylist needs to have a versatile set of skills in food and prop styling to contribute to photography and video projects for People Inc. brands.  This position is responsible for meeting with internal brand partners to plan and execute photo shoots by securing all the food and prop items needed, preparing the recipes, and styling the content within the specific parameters outlined by art and editorial teams. They must be able to translate creative briefs into polished, on-brand imagery.

The Food/Prop Stylist must be able to take direction from clients and photographers while also providing direction to assistants and other support staff to ensure they are producing high quality content at a pace that keeps projects on or ahead of schedule. Some shoots will include motion/video requirements.

This position is also responsible for overseeing the pantry, kitchen equipment, and prop inventory,  building the prop collection as needed, and working directly with the Director of Production to manage the spending of the monthly budget.

Full in office- 
In-office Expectations: This position is a fully in-office role due to the nature of the work being done.
 

II. Essential Job Functions

Weight %: Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

- 70%: Produce and Style primarily food content for People Inc. brands shooting photo and/or video  in the People Inc. Content Studios. Non-food shoots will also require prop styling. 

- 10%: Maintain accurate financial records and share purchasing information with the Director of Production.  Submit expense reports as required.

- 10%: Manage the pantry, kitchen equipment and prop inventory; this includes adding items to the collection, deciding on items to remove from collection, and collaborating on best practices, storage solutions, etc.

- 10%: Prepare market orders/provide all food items needed for shoots from content provided by clients

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:

  • Associates, BS, or BA culinary degree or significant experience operating a professional kitchen, can be waived depending on experience.  

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience as a food and prop stylist or assistant food and prop stylist is preferred.  Significant food experience in a professional capacity will be considered in lieu of styling experience. Experience in food styling is the primary requirement of the role.

  • Communication Skills- You are organized and able to communicate clearly with staff, team members, and clients.  You are also resilient and able to receive constructive criticism and pivot to meet the needs of demanding clients.

  • Multi-Tasking- You anticipate the needs of your team and your clients and can juggle multiple projects at once.

  • Flexible- You have the personality and skills to support multiple brands with different aesthetics and can deftly pivot among projects.  

  • Proficient computer skills (Google -- Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, Docs).

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to maintain accurate financial records and file expense reports

% Travel Required (Approximate):

  • 10% Local travel weekly to stores to buy groceries and supplies for photo shoots.  Overnight travel rarely.

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $67,000.00 - $75,000.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of People Inc's total compensation package for employees.
