JOB SUMMARY
Handles customer inquiries and lead requests for groups (e.g., Full Service and MSB, 10-99 peak room nights) within predefined Group Sales parameters. Works with customers to align customer preferences with brand needs and actively up-sells each business opportunity to maximize revenues and drive customer loyalty. Verifies that business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for quality service delivery. Drives customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience. Processes business correspondence and creates contracts and other related booking documentation as required. Demonstrates excellent selling skills, strong communication skills, and a detailed understanding of property operations, food and beverage, and planning.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience :
Required:
• High school diploma or GED; 2+ years experience in the sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or related professional area.
OR
• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 1+ years experience in the sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or related professional area.
Preferred:
• 2+ years experience selling group business, either at a Marriott property or in a Marriott sales office.
• Knowledge of Marriott property operations including Food and Beverage (F&B).
• Knowledge of the group sales process for all brands and how to close a sale.
• Team-based selling experience.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Managing Sales Activities
• Handles eligible customer inquiries and group/catering lead requests within predefined Group Sales parameters, including Full Service and MSB opportunities of 10–99 peak room nights; refers business outside established parameters to the appropriate sales associate.
• Aligns customer preferences with brand and property needs, up-sells appropriate opportunities, closes business based on market conditions and property priorities, and uses company marketing initiatives and incentives to support conversion.
• Verifies booked business meets hotel parameters and is turned over accurately, completely, and on time; executes related proposals, contracts, customer correspondence, and booking documentation.
• Demonstrates strong selling and communication skills, detailed property operations knowledge, and market awareness to support revenue goals and sell effectively against competitors.
• Collaborates with Area Sales, on-property resources, Group Sales resources, and support staff to coordinate non-duplicative sales efforts, achieve individual and team revenue goals, and implement best practices.
• Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs.

• Builds coordinated relationships with internal partners and external stakeholders to support complementary sales efforts.
• Builds customer loyalty by understanding needs, recommending appropriate features and services, and setting clear expectations throughout the sales process.
• Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to encourage future bookings.
• Maintains strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Resolves customer and guest issues that arise during the sales process, escalating to Property or Group Sales leadership when appropriate.
