Join us as a Financials Credit Trader, Vice President

  • We’re looking for an experienced Credit Trader to join our London-based Credit Trading team working alongside trading and strategy colleagues
  • In this role, you’ll be responsible for market-making, risk management, and relative value trading across a range of financial institution credit products including senior and subordinated bank debt
  • You’ll focus on optimising risk-adjusted returns, managing balance sheet utilisation and portfolio exposures, and providing liquidity while responding to market dynamics and client needs. You’ll also support the wider franchise of NatWest Markets with market insights and product expertise

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll be trading financial bonds, credit default swap (CDS) indices and related credit instruments, managing client flow and delivering best execution while monitoring market liquidity and pricing. You’ll manage credit exposures within established risk limits, continuously assessing spread, duration, and credit quality risks whilst adjusting portfolio positions in response to market movements, macroeconomic developments and issuer fundamentals.

You’ll also

  • Analyse credit markets to generate trading opportunities based on relative value, technical analysis and fundamental research, while staying informed of market-moving events
  • Work closely with Sales, Syndicate and Debt Capital Markets (DCM) teams, providing market intelligence, pricing insights, and trade ideas
  • Build strong relationships with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain strict adherence to regulatory and risk frameworks and contribute to the enhancement of trading tools, analytics, and reporting

The skills you’ll need

To be successful in this role, you’ll have a strong understanding of fixed income and credit markets along with experience trading financial or corporate bonds, CDS, or structured credit products. You’ll also have a solid grasp of risk management principles including spread, default, and liquidity risk, combined with good analytical, numerical, and decision-making skills to assess market data and financial information in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll also need:

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in analytics tools and trading platforms and such as Bloomberg and Tradeweb
  • Knowledge of bank fundamentals, capital structures, and relevant regulatory frameworks would be advantageous
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related field
