Summary
The Financial Reporting Accountant will perform various duties to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for FGL Holdings and its subsidiaries. Areas of responsibility include preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations; assistance with monthly close calendars; preparation of financial statement and footnote disclosures; and other monthly close responsibilities required for SEC and statutory reporting. The Financial Reporting Accountant will also support the Financial Reporting team with requests from internal and external auditors, senior management and rating agencies.
Organization
The Financial Reporting Accountant will report to the Manager, Financial Reporting. He/she will work with other members of the Financial Reporting team.
Duties and Responsibilities
The range of tasks to be performed may include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Preparing components of the GAAP and SEC financial statements and reporting packages as assigned, including related footnotes, schedules and analysis.
- Preparing components of the statutory-basis financial statements, including related footnotes, schedules and analysis
- Preparing reconciliations and analysis of general ledger accounts and other financial data
- Executing internal controls designed to mitigate identified risks within the financial reporting process
- Preparing journal entries, evaluation and supporting analysis
- Performing designated tasks within the monthly close management process.
- Assisting with requests of both internal and external auditors
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and/or internal control enhancements,
- Assisting with ad hoc requests, special projects and other duties related to financial reporting and analysis, as assigned.
- Assisting with the coordination of close activities
Experience and Education Requirements
The experiences and/or education requirements required (or preferred) for this position include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1-2 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting or auditing
- Life insurance or financial services experience preferred
- Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
- CPA license preferred
