A Kaniksu Community Health Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization's financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting functions. This role analyzes financial performance, identifies trends and variances, and provides data-driven recommendations to support strategic decision-making. The Financial Analyst works closely with department leaders to develop budgets, monitor financial performance, and improve financial processes.
A typical day of the Financial Analyst might include;
- Develop and maintain annual operating and capital budgets in collaboration with department managers.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts.
- Perform detailed variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecast.
- Investigate significant variances and provide clear explanations and recommendations to leadership.
- Monitor financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Coordinate the annual budgeting process across departments.
- Assist managers in developing realistic and data-driven budgets.
- Update forecasts throughout the year based on changing business conditions.
- Support long-range financial planning initiatives.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial reports and management dashboards.
- Develop ad hoc financial reports and analyses as requested.
- Present financial findings in a clear and understandable manner to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting for leadership.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, labor costs, productivity, and operational metrics.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
- Conduct profitability and cost-benefit analysis for new initiatives.
- Utilize financial modelling to evaluate strategic decisions.
- Serve as a financial resource to department leaders.
- Provide guidance on financial policies, budgeting, and expenditure management.
- Assist operational leaders in understanding financial performance and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Support business cases and return-on-investment (ROI) analyses.
- Ensure financial analyses comply with organizational policies and accounting standards.
- Recommend and implement improvements to budgeting and reporting processes.
- Maintain accurate financial models and supporting documentation.
- Support internal and external audit requests as needed.
Experience Needed to Land this Gig:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field required.
- Master's degree or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or accounting experience.
- Experience performing detailed variance analysis and financial modeling.
- Experience supporting operational leaders with financial reporting.
- Healthcare or nonprofit experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, look-ups, financial models, and complex formulas.
- Experience with financial reporting systems and ERP software.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
