The Payroll Manager has primary responsibility for processing payroll. This position is responsible for maintaining all payroll related records and reports and partnering with the HR department to manage employee benefits and insurance plans. This Payroll Manager reports to the VP, Finance.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage bi-weekly payroll and ensure accurate and timely processing.
Partner closely with the Human Resources & Finance departments on various projects.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues in a professional and confidential manner.
Update and maintain employee payroll records.
Pull data from third-party benefit platform and update current HRIS system with employee benefit selections.
Audit timekeeping records for compliance with established standards.
Review and process pay increase submissions ensuring compliance with company policies.
Coordinate and process garnishments and child support payments.
Stay abreast of changes in payroll legislation and coordinate with the appropriate internal/external parties as needed to ensure compliance.
Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
Act as the primary payroll liaison during company audits and ensure proper documentation is maintained to enable successful passing of audits.
Supervise the processing and tracking of off-cycle payments including taxes, and bonuses, 401K, NQDC’s, and General Accounting functions.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Excellent written, verbal, and social communication skills.
2+ years of proven leadership experience as a payroll manager or similar role.
Knowledge of multi-state payroll and taxes.
Experience with various payroll applications (ADP and Zenefits is a plus)
Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field is a plus.
Minimum five to seven years’ experience in payroll and benefits administration.
Expert knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll laws and regulations required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google suite, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
