This role will be responsible for US corporate financial reporting and the analysis of US GAAP financial results.
Responsibilities
• Prepare financial reports to US Finance and analyze US GAAP balance sheet and income statement
• Coordinate quarterly close activities in conjunction with US Finance closing schedule
• Perform GL account reconciliations and ensure valid information in the accounting system
• Prepare management reporting package for Canadian management and provide meaningful analysis of results by liaising with the relevant Canadian business units
• Prepare detailed general and administrative expense analysis, liaising with intercompany affiliates to analyze intercompany charges including eliminations for reporting
• Prepare and file premium tax and sales tax returns
• Assist with the implementation of new or updates to reporting requirements and financial controls related to US corporate reporting
• Initiate process improvements as necessary for all accounting and reporting processes within Finance and in other areas of the company to reduce the reporting cycle
• Assist with special projects and ad-hoc initiatives as required
Required Skills and Experience
• Minimum 5 years of Canadian property and casualty insurance accounting experience
• Experience with US corporate reporting under US GAAP
• High degree of technical and analytical expertise, excellent verbal, written and communication skills
• Detail oriented, able to manage several complex processes/tasks with a high level of accuracy
• Well organized, innovative with a high level of initiative and strong time management skills with the ability to establish priorities to meet tight deadlines with little to no supervision while balancing multiple and constantly changing needs and schedules
• Flexible and able to work in a fast paced environment, high degree of accountability and ownership
• Ability to deal directly with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
• CPA designation

Job posting pay range: $105,000 - $115,000/year
For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.
$105,000 - $115,000/year

Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
