What it’s like to be a Northbridge Finance Manager

As a Finance Manager, you will play an impactful role by executing key monthly and quarterly accounting and reporting processes. By collecting and consolidating financial data from different sources, you will meet a variety of key financial and regulatory reporting deadlines.

In supporting the Financial team, you will update and reconcile spreadsheets and schedules required by Management and our parent company. You will also maintain OSFI exhibits, i.e. premiums, losses, commissions, etc. By compiling and analyzing accounts and records, you’ll also identify and resolve discrepancies and recommend solutions.

Our Finance team is a busy, collaborative group, coordinating with other departments on a daily basis. By ensuring financial data and systems are accurately updated, the department ensures productivity and improvement in customer service as well.

We want your talent

If you are great at:

  • Managing multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to recognize unrelated problems and develop appropriate solutions

  • Leading the preparation of complex IFRS-17 calculations, including ownership of the Moody’s Risk Integrity IFRS-17 calculation engine

  • Driving the execution of detailed shareholder financial statements and information within Fairfax’s financial reporting consolidation tool, OneStream.

  • Strong ability to understand and follow job-related instructional guides

  • Strong ability to focus on customer needs and high-quality service

If you have:

  • 2-4 years’ experience within a management position in a financial discipline

  • Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel, including Pivot tables

  • Attainment of a professional accounting designation

  • Working knowledge of insurance accounting, including premiums, claims, reinsurance and statutory reporting

  • Experience with IFRS 16 is an asset
