You will own everything operational finance at fonio. As part of the operations team, you will build up an operational finance function that acts as an asset. The processes and structures you build along the way will support fonio's rapid internationalization and growth. We are not looking for someone who performs repetitive work, but rather for someone who takes ownership, improves and automates processes, and builds the financial foundation for fonio's future success.
Systems & AutomationRoll out and own a lean ERP system, from selection to implementation
Build a clean invoice approval and control process (for incoming invoices)
Automate internal and external monthly reporting – together with the Strategic Finance Lead
Translate everything in finance that's manual today into workflows and agents
Operational financial planning with the Strategic Finance Lead and Chief of Staff
Keep weekly cash-flow projections live and accurate
Consolidation across entities
KPI preparation and internal reporting
Monthly accounting prep together with our tax advisors
Coordinate tax topics (VAT, corporate tax, payroll, international)
Corporate credit cards: setup, limits, reconciliation
Employee reimbursements and expense management
Inter-company transfers and FX handling
At least 4 years of operational finance experience at a startup or scale-up – you've actually touched invoices, expenses, accounting prep and cash flow yourself
Obsession with detail – clean handling of numbers, small errors bother you before they bother anyone else
AI-first: workflows, agents and automations are your default solution, not the exception. Claude Code, n8n and similar tools are part of your toolkit
Software fluency: Notion, Excel/Sheets, ERP systems – you pick up new tools in days, not weeks
Excellent Communicator: It's easy for you to translate complex analytics into understandable insights
Ownership mindset: you want to own topics, not just check them off
Perfect German, very good English

Skills Required
- At least 4 years of operational finance experience at a startup or scale-up (invoices, expenses, accounting prep, cash flow)
- Experience selecting and implementing ERP systems
- Hands-on experience with invoices, expense management, corporate cards, inter-company transfers and FX handling
- Ability to build and automate finance workflows and agents (AI-first mindset) using tools like Claude Code and n8n
- Software fluency with Notion, Excel/Sheets and general ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail and numeric accuracy
- Excellent communication skills; able to translate complex analytics into clear insights
- Ownership mindset and willingness to build processes end-to-end
- Perfect German and very good English
- Experience coordinating tax topics (VAT, corporate tax, payroll, international) and working with tax advisors
