Finance Business Partner

The opportunity

The Finance Business Partner will be part of the Finance Business Partner team, Insurance Division, who is the ‘face of finance’ to embed financial metrics & considerations into key underwriting decisions & support the performance of each business line. The position will report into the Senior Finance Business Partner, Insurance. You can expect to get involved on a wide range of topics: from business case development for geographical and product expansion to technology development, process improvement reviews, industry practices set-up or the development & implementation of the future Operating model & organizational structures.

Your new role

  • Part of the development the Finance strategy across function or division of QBE, proactively steering change & assisting senior management with decision making in driving the business through an analytical lens. 
  • Drive business results by ensuring the delivery of the financial planning and reforecasting processes across the division’s income and cost base are accurate and timely. 
  • Challenge plans to ensure delivery within budgets and work with senior management to identify and implement growth & cost saving initiatives. 
  • Work in conjunction with the wider Finance team to continually update and improve all management reporting including design of new reporting, adaptation of existing reporting and establishing best practice. 
  • Manage the delivery of full monthly commentary, analysis and communication of managed results across the respective function / division, including but not limited to: Management Account (Analysis of current year premium movements against plan and providing insights using various management reporting tools, claims, commissions including Current/prior year review and LAC splits) , Cell review, Expense budget.
  • Develop strong relationships and credibility with function / division’s leadership and act as a trusted business adviser on matters relating to finance
  • Contribute to the attainment of the team's operating plan to maximise productivity and performance.
  • Provide advice and support to senior leaders to develop their understanding and management of the financial aspects of their business.
  • Support ad hoc operational efficiency projects to significantly improve financial discipline and commercial awareness across the division. 

About you

  • Previous experience in a similar role in insurance industry is preferrable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Leadership and influencing abilities
  • Flexible approach and ability to recognise and adapt to changing business requirements
  • English working proficiency
