About the role
We are looking for a data-enabled Finance Assistant or Management Accountant to join our Finance team based at our head office on the Gateshead Quayside. You will support the Financial Controller, as well as supporting our Accounts Payable and Payroll team.
This role will involve transactional processing, payroll, and month-end reporting activities of the finance team. The role ensures data accuracy and supports the finance team in delivering timely and meaningful financial insights.
Our ideal candidate is someone who can pick up existing processes and approach them with a mindset for change, constantly looking for ways to improve them by adopting new technology.

What you will be doing
Supporting the production of accurate and timely monthly management accounts:
- Assisting with the preparation, posting and review of journals, including accruals, prepayments, deferrals and reclassifications
- Supporting the analysis and reporting of revenue and costs
- Preparing balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances
- Contributing to an efficient and well‑controlled month‑end close process
Providing Accounts Payable support:
- Processing supplier invoices accurately and in line with internal controls
- Managing supplier queries and supporting timely payment runs
- Assisting with AP reconciliations and month‑end close activities
Supporting payroll processes:
- Assisting with monthly payroll preparation, validation and posting
- Calculating commission schedules
- Ensuring payroll journals, reconciliations and accruals are accurate & timely
Adhoc:
- Delivering ad‑hoc analysis and reporting
- Supporting the improvement of financial processes across payroll and AP
- Contributing to continuous improvement within the finance function
- Working closely with senior finance stakeholders, including the Finance Controller and Head of FP&A, providing support and insight as required
You will suit the role if you have
- Working knowledge of any data orientated skills, such as; Power Bi, Fabric, SQL, Python, Co-Work.
- Expertise in Finance transactions.
- Ambitious, driven and with an interest in studying towards accountancy qualifications (ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
- Comfortable working in a hands‑on, on‑site environment.
- Interested in process improvement rather than "business as usual".
- A clear communicator who enjoys building relationships outside finance.
- High attention to detail and focus on data integrity.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Salary
Starting salary, £30,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Location and Working Arrangements
You will be based at Aspire’s Gateshead Head Office, with travel as required.
Hours of Work
Full time (37.5 hours per week), Monday to Friday.

Skills Required
- Working knowledge of data-oriented tools (Power BI, Fabric, SQL, Python, Co-Work)
- Experience with transactional finance processes (journals, accruals, prepayments, reclassifications)
