Job Overview

American Councils Georgia implements grant-funded programs like FLEX high school exchange (including FLEX Abroad, which brings Americans to Georgia) Open World, University Capacity Building Program, and university exchanges for Americans in Georgia and fee-based projects such as Prometric Testing Center and American Learning Center.

This role is designed for an early-career finance professional who can manage core accounting functions and tax compliance while providing essential administrative and operational support. The successful candidate will ensure the Georgia office remains in full compliance with local laws and American Councils’ global standards, reporting to the local Executive Director and coordinating with the Washington, DC finance department.


Key Responsibilities:

Finance

  • Prepare and file monthly and annual tax reports; stay updated on changes to the Georgian Tax Code to ensure office compliance;
  • Assist in creating budget requests and monthly expense reports for the Washington, DC finance department;
  • Manage daily banking tasks and serve as a point of contact for local banks and tax authorities;
  • Record and track all office and program expenses, ensuring the use of VAT exemptions where applicable;
  • Follow Georgia’s national statistical requirements and submit quarterly and annual reports;
  • Maintain clear financial documentation for operational and programmatic transactions in accordance with American Councils policies and audit requirements.
  • Prepare staff timesheets and maintain personnel records in compliance with the Georgian Labor Code and American Councils policies;
  • Coordinate contracts for Georgia-based local long-term, short-term, and temporary staff, consultants, vendors, and service providers.

Administration

  • Maintain and organize all physical and digital records related to office operations, finance, procurement, HR, and audits;
  • Procure and manage office supplies and services essential to office function;
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to programs, workshops, trainings, seminars, outreach events, fundraising activities, and visits by partners, donors, and American Councils staff;
  • Provide international visa facilitation and related administrative support as needed for Georgia-based staff, visiting staff, and program participants;
  • Monitor and act as back-up on relevant office email accounts and social media platforms for applicable programs, as requested;
  • Translate internal documents, letters, and other materials between English and Georgian upon request;
  • Perform other duties as assigned relating to the administrative, financial, operational, and programmatic advancement of American Councils in Georgia.
Qualifications
  • Permission to live and work in Georgia;
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Georgian;
  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication, and record-keeping skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; recent graduates are encouraged to apply;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and work collaboratively with local and international colleagues;
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting software;
  • Knowledge of Georgian administrative, labor, tax, banking, procurement, and documentation practices preferred.
