About the Role:
Manage fiscal operations for programs funded by NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), NYS OCFS, and private grants. Related tasks include budgeting, financial reporting, billing and collections, audits, and working closely with program personnel.
What You’ll Do:
- Ensure compliance with funding source requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
- Assist program management in preparation of their annual budgets
- Prepare new budget proposals and RFPs, as needed
- Prepare monthly actual to budget analysis
- Monitor spending to budget and advise program and finance management
- Prepare and submit monthly billings
- Prepare and submit budget modification requests, as needed
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reports as requested by either funding source or program management
- Supervise 1 – 2 Contract Accountants
- Prepare supporting schedules and analyses for closings, annual audits, reviews, and cost reports
- Prepare and record general ledger entries
- Respond to funding sources inquiries and requests for information
- Preparation of the year end reports for the annual audit.
- Maintain audit ready financial records in financial systems and DYCD reporting platform (e.g. Passport), including general ledger reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Reconcile billing to general ledger and maintain billing tracker
- Other duties, as assigned
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or higher degree in accounting or related field
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a not-for-profit setting, preferably with contract billing
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Passport helpful
- Experience with SSOP and Uniform Guidance audit helpful
- Experience with Sage Intacct helpful but not essential
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external agencies
- CPA desired but not required

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday in our Headquarters at 1333 Broadway office in Midtown Manhattan. Work hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
